Privacy Policy — Sidequest Everyday

Effective date: December 22, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Jakub Sejkora (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses information when you use the Sidequest Everyday mobile application (the “App”).

We designed Sidequest Everyday to be lightweight and privacy-conscious: your sidequest history and any photos you take in the app are stored on your device unless we explicitly tell you otherwise.

2) What we collect

A) Data you provide

  • Support communications: If you contact us, we process your email address and the content you send.

B) Data collected automatically

  • Anonymous App identifier (UUID): The App generates a random identifier on your device to help deliver daily content and notifications. This identifier is not your name or email.
  • Push notification token: If you allow notifications, iOS provides a device token used to deliver notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
  • Timezone (and possibly reminder preferences): We may store your timezone (and, if the App offers it, your chosen reminder time) to send the daily reminder at an appropriate local time.
  • Basic diagnostics (device/app info): Technical information such as app version, device model, iOS version, language, and error information may be processed to keep the App stable and secure.

C) Data stored only on your device

  • Sidequest history / completion status
  • Photos you take for your completed sidequests

We do not upload your photos or local sidequest history to our servers under the setup described in this policy.

3) How we use the data

We use the information described above to:

  • Deliver daily sidequests and related app content
  • Send the daily reminder notification
  • Maintain app security and prevent abuse
  • Diagnose issues and improve reliability
  • Respond to support requests

4) Legal bases (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA/UK, we process personal data under:

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide App functionality you request
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the App secure, reliable, and improve it
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where required, e.g., enabling notifications (you can change this in iOS settings)

5) Notifications (important)

Sidequest Everyday is built around a daily reminder (e.g., “Today’s sidequest is ready.”).
If you disable notifications in iOS settings, the App may not work as intended (for example, you may miss the daily reminder).

Notifications are intended to be generic and do not include sensitive personal data.

6) Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal data.

We share limited data with these services to run the App:

  • Supabase (backend hosting and database): Used to store the anonymous UUID and push token (and timezone/reminder settings) and to deliver content. Supabase acts as a service provider/processor on our behalf.
  • Apple (APNs / App Store): Apple delivers push notifications and operates the App Store. Apple may process certain information under its own terms and privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

7) International data transfers

Some service providers (such as infrastructure providers used by Supabase) may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) to protect personal data.

8) Data retention

  • Push token + anonymous UUID + settings (timezone/reminder time): kept only as long as needed to send notifications and provide the service, and removed or anonymized when no longer necessary.
  • Support emails: retained as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period for follow-up.

9) Your choices and controls

  • Disable notifications: You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings (this may reduce functionality).
  • Local app data: Your sidequest history and photos are stored on your device. You can remove them by deleting the App (and/or clearing storage where applicable).
  • Data requests: You can contact us at privacy@sidequesteveryday.com to request access or deletion of server-side data associated with your anonymous identifier (where applicable).

10) Your rights (GDPR/EEA/UK)

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, and data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11) Children

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize risk.

13) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide notice in the App or App Store listing.
